Itel A90 has gone official in Pakistan as the company’s latest entry-level device. It comes with a new design, there’s an upgraded SoC, and its IP54 rating keeps the water and dust at bay. This phone has some decent specs for what you are paying, but there are some compromises that you need to be aware of.
You may presume this device to be the successor to the itel A80, but its specs and design tell a different story. The A90 has a downgraded display and a weaker camera system than the older A80.
It has a slower 90Hz refresh rate, for starters, and the display size has been reduced to 6.6 inches. The screen’s resolution is still 720p, but the device has been demoted to a V-notch from a punch-hole cutout. Speaking of, the sensor hidden in the notch is also a weaker 5MP shooter.
The main camera on the back of itel budget new mobile is a 13MP primary shooter with AutoFocus, and it can record 1080p 30 FPS videos. As we said before, the phone has some decent upgrades as well, like the new Unisoc T7100 SoC that clocks at 1800 MHz with a beefier PowerVR GPU.
The variant released in Pakistan has 4GB RAM and up to 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage. The display also gets an upgrade from a measly 500 nits brightness to 1500 nits, which will make the LCD much more readable under the sun or in well-lit surroundings.
An IP54 rating is a first for the itel A series. Itel is pushing to improve the durability of its devices, which has been the only sore point in an otherwise fantastic collection of phones. This rating will protect your A90 device from dust ingress and minor water splashes.
This newcomer has the same Android 14 x itel OS 14 firmware as the older A80. The side fingerprint reader and a 5000mAh battery are also borrowed from its predecessor. But this device seems to have an upgraded 15W charging for faster refills. The Itel A90 (4/128GB) variant starts retailing in Pakistan at Rs 20,999.
