PTA Network Assessment: Zong’s Powerful 5G Push Passes 1,000 Sites
PTA network assessment in Islamabad and Rawalpindi tested call quality and speeds as Zong highlighted 1,000+ 5G sites
The PTA network assessment across Islamabad and Rawalpindi put mobile network performance and service quality to the test in real-world conditions. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted an on-ground Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment, with Zong highlighting its expanding 5G infrastructure and network capabilities.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted an on-ground Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, evaluating mobile network performance and service quality in real-world conditions, with Zong highlighting its expanding 5G infrastructure and network capabilities.
The assessment was led by PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman and involved senior officials from the regulator, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), mobile network operators and media representatives. During the exercise, the PTA chairman personally tested voice call quality and mobile internet services.
Three dedicated teams carried out parallel assessments across the twin cities, examining download speeds, call stability, connectivity and service continuity at multiple locations. Islamabad International Airport was among the key assessment sites, where Zong demonstrated its indoor connectivity infrastructure.
Zong has deployed a 5G Active Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Indoor Building Solution at Islamabad International Airport, making it the only operator to have implemented this technology at the facility, according to the company.
The operator has also surpassed 1,000 5G sites nationwide, including more than 275 5G-enabled sites across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, which it says represents the highest deployment in the industry across the twin cities.
The company is continuing to enhance network capacity and data performance through technologies such as Carrier Aggregation, which combines multiple spectrum carriers to increase bandwidth and improve network efficiency.
PTA said initial findings reflected strong network performance and improvements in service quality and reliability across the surveyed areas. The regulator noted that the assessment was aimed at identifying service gaps and supporting continuous improvements in mobile connectivity.
The exercise forms part of PTA’s broader multi-city monitoring initiative to assess consumer experience and strengthen telecommunications services across Pakistan.
