Pakistan State Oil (PSO), the country’s leading energy enterprise, hosted Federal Minister for Petroleum Mr. Ali Pervaiz Malik at its Head Office today for high-level discussions on strategic and operational matters. The Minister was joined by Secretary Petroleum Mr. Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh and Additional Secretary (Policy) Mr. Zafar Abbas. PSO Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jawwad Ahmed Cheema, along with the executive management team, welcomed the delegation.
The visit underscores the Government of Pakistan’s ongoing focus on strengthening national energy preparedness amid growing global uncertainty, as well as PSO’s key role in ensuring the country’s fuel security.
Mr. Cheema updated the delegation on PSO’s financial performance, recent operational achievements, and future plans. The Minister took stock of the company’s efforts in energy security and retail modernization, praising PSO’s strong performance in sustaining an uninterrupted fuel supply across the country despite challenging geopolitical conditions.
The conversation also touched on the shifting global landscape, including fluctuating international fuel prices and disruptions along major shipping routes. Both sides discussed a range of coordinated steps to protect the local market — among them, proactive global procurement, diversifying supply sources over the long term, and building up strategic reserve capacity.
In response to the briefing, the Minister pledged the Government’s continued backing in developing a balanced energy sector that prioritizes consumer welfare and economic stability. He reiterated the administration’s resolve to expand storage capacity, speed up digitization and automation, strengthen supply chain resilience, and keep improving the customer experience. He also stressed that all stakeholders in the sector need to unite behind a common vision to build a modern and resilient energy sector for Pakistan.
As the nation’s flagship oil marketing company, PSO reaffirmed its dedication to raising industry benchmarks and providing dependable, sustainable energy in support of Pakistan’s economic growth.
