The Economic Policy and Business Development (EPBD) think tank hosted a high-profile delegation of DIALOG \u2014 the elite global forum founded by Peter Thiel and Auren Hoffman, signalling international intellectual engagement aimed at reshaping Pakistan\u2019s economic future.
\nEPBD Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera welcomed the DIALOG delegates, and introduced the EPBD think tank and its current work, especially highlighting a critical truth: Pakistan\u2019s economic future depends on demand-driven, evidence-based policy reform.
\nHe emphasised that Pakistan\u2019s economic revival now depends on demand-driven, evidence-based policy reform, with the private sector at the centre of growth.
\nSukhera briefed the DIALOG delegation on EPBD\u2019s ongoing work, including: Development of shadow policies and five-year sectoral development plans created in close partnership with the business community, launch of Pakistan\u2019s first Wealth Perception Index and mapping the country\u2019s top 40 business groups and their economic influence. Pakistan\u2019s economic future hinges on demand-driven policy, said EPBD CEO. A model designed to empower the private sector to lead Pakistan\u2019s economic turnaround, backed by data rather than bureaucratic guesswork.
\nWith millions of young Pakistanis entering the job market, only private sector growth\u2014supported by fair interest rates, rational taxation, and lower cost of doing business\u2014can generate the jobs our economy urgently needs.
\n\u201cThe government cannot employ everyone,\u201d he said, stressing that only a competitive, expanding private sector \u2014 supported by fair interest rates, rational taxation, and a lower cost of doing business \u2014 can generate the jobs the economy urgently requires.
\nSukhera underscored that Pakistan\u2019s real policy deficit lies in the disconnect between the government and the business sector.
\nHe said EPBD\u2019s mission is to bridge this long-standing gap, ensuring that economic policies reflect real market needs rather than bureaucratic assumptions.
\nThe EPBD chief told the DIALOG delegation, hosted at Lake City, that Pakistan must now shift towards enabling businesses to grow, compete, and hire \u2014 a model followed by every successful emerging economy.
\n\u201cPakistan needs policies that let businesses breathe and lead,\u201d he said. \u201cEPBD is building the platform where the government and private sector can finally pull in the same direction \u2014 toward a prosperous Pakistan.\u201d
\nThe DIALOG delegation was led by former Ambassador Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, who thanked chairman EPBD Gohar Ejaz for hosting and arranging the event as well as inviting business people.
\nDIALOG, established in 2006, brings together some of the world\u2019s most influential decision-makers from politics, business, technology, academia, the military, and creative industries to discuss solutions to the planet\u2019s most pressing challenges.<\/p>\n
